Ability
Bloodhound
- The result of oversensitive receptors of the user's nasal passage/membrane combined with the scent-identifying area of the brain being more packed with synapses and nerves, the Bloodhound ability is able to identify different existing scents and track these scents from a range of 10 yards like a bloodhound. Weakened by strong scents like varnish, ammonia, garbage dumps, paint, and many others, these products can not only throw off the tracked scent but temporarily kill the user's sense of smell. Cigarette smoke reduces the potency of this ability to a range of 10 feet as well as deadening the strength of surrounding scents.

Personality
Tobias is generally quite a content individual with a maternal expression towards others and enjoys caring for people, particularly in the manner of cooking for people which could be considered therapeutic for him. He enjoys learning about new things, however is not as mature as what is normal for his age group. At 27, he has the come-back commentary capability of an introvert literal-thinker 20 year old, an under-medicated ADD attention span, and he lacks a good deal of interpersonal communication skills. When undergoing stress he goes into a state of moderate depression which includes increased nicotine intake and tension headaches behind his eyes on top of general sadness and becoming socially withdrawn. He feels that he needs to prove his own worth and has a strong desire to feel like he belongs somewhere.

History
Born in Des Moines, Iowa in the USA, Tobias Jai Mao was the last of four children born to James and Molly Mao. Tobias was the result of an unexpected pregnancy which was discovered when Molly went in to get fixed to not have any more children. Due to strict religious purposes alone, Molly did not get an abortion and after Tobias was born she successfully had a hysterectomy to prevent any more children. By the time Tobias was three, he had a nephew from the eldest of his three older siblings, his brother Jacob, age 20 at the time.

Tobias was a great moony child, happy and full of laughter despite his mother’s general distance from him due to him being an unplanned child, he was instantly his Opa’s favorite grandchild. His Opa, Eugene, owned a small restaurant and loved to teach his grandson how to cook, little things that brought out the true flavor of a recipe and Tobias seemed to have a great knack for it, eventually discovered at the age of six by Eugene and Tobias that the child had a heightened sense of smell with which gave him a slightly more sensitive taste palate. It made Tobias a picky eater as well, and he kept from areas which smelled too strongly of certain aromas, especially paint, varnish, onions, compost, and smoke.

Eventually recognizing his mother’s distance from him, Tobias began to strive to be a pleaser, to show he was worth something, even if he did not understand what was going on around him. As he entered middle school, one of the more troublesome times of Tobias’ life, he discovered that it was difficult to hide from bullies but with his ability he was able to easily track down what they had stolen from him. He was still a pleaser as he grew older, however still lacking interpersonal communication skills. He started working off and on at his Opa’s restaurant to earn some spending cash as he grew older, helping his elderly Opa with things he was beginning to have difficulties with like cleaning up after a long evening in the restaurant, washing dishes, and some times helping cook. He was very close with his Opa as he gradually turned to the age of 12 and started the soccer team at his school, improving his speed and stamina gradually.

Still a bit naïve to the world around him, his teachers were a bit concerned but when they expressed these worries to his parents, Tobias’ father simply said he was a late bloomer and just needed time. During that ‘time’ it took for Tobias to ‘bloom and mature’, Tobias’ father began to teach Tobias in what little spare time he had on things James liked to do. James taught his son basic hunting techniques, although Tobias complained about guns because the exhaust from the contraptions irritated his nose and ability. Tobias however did take well to dressing animal carcasses and proved he was good with knives, although it did take practice and learning a few techniques from Eugene as to not cut himself on such sharp blades. Tobias’s two elder sisters did not particularly approve Tobias and their father’s new ritual bonding of hunting but the two couldn’t complain because they weren’t living at home with them.

Although this was ‘bonding’ for Tobias and his father, they were still a bit distant from each other. This distance increased when Tobias began to take a noticeable interest in the same sex instead of the opposite at the age of 14 just before entering high school. Tobias was gay and his mother insisted that he was mentally sick and his father just called it a phase that he would eventually get over. Tobias knew that this was not a phase and that he truly had an attraction to other guys but for the sake of his parents he tried to be as boyish as possible to hide this fact. He still worked off and on at his Opa’s restaurant, still hunted occationally with his father, and when it was in season, he was on the soccer team and when he became a sophomore in high school he joined the baseball team. Although he was not particularly strong, he was fast and would eventually develop a good pitchers arm for throwing knives. Although he lived a busy schedule he always tried to make time for new friends he made, becoming good friends with girls in his Home Economics classes that he took voluntarily every year in high school and his best friend, a handsome young man in his grade by the name of Myles . Only participating in baseball for one year, he still pitched balls to Myles who had also been on the team and often needed practice for his swing, often acting as a running partner and study buddy together. Where X goes, Y goes. These two were inseparable, right down to when Tobias got his wisdom teeth removed, Myles was right there by his side.

Hunting with his father eventually became an only once a month thing instead of a weekend thing and the relationship between Tobias and his parents began to come to a halt and started to go speeding into reverse. Working part time at his Opa’s to save up money for college, Myles joined Tobias in his job location the summer before their senior year. At the end of the summer, the two began to date, known actively to the school. Tobias eventually got a hunting license to start trapping and using knives to hunt, although he discovered some time after his 18th birthday that cigarette smoke weakened his ability and he started to smoke. For Tobias’ 18th birthday, his father helped Tobias shoot his first deer. That was a breaking point in the relationship. James was proud of his son, who usually bitched and complained about guns, didn’t like them and said they were too noisy and made him sneeze, and still, Tobias used a Winchester Model 70 to shoot his first deer, although it took four shots and chasing down the wounded animal.

Despite the pride, James still did not approve of the idea that his youngest son, whom he was over three times older than, was gay. After Tobias graduated high school, Tobias moved out to give his parents space from him, understanding that it was probably difficult still, although he did not understand why they did not accept him for who he was. He was still their son after all. Tobias moved in with Myles’ family, who didn’t mind that they were gay, but six months later Myles’ dad received a job transfer and his family had to move, leaving Tobias behind. Tobias moved into his Opa’s basement, emailing Myles every day. He went to college with what money he had saved up, although he could only afford to take two classes a semester. For a year Tobias attended college, taking English Composition and Intermediate Algebra during his first semester followed by Theatre (in which he attempted learning acting, stage makeup, and stage craft) and Intermediate Biology (which the only thing he couldn’t stand was the experiments that unintentionally dealt with harsh scents).

Over the course of his one year of college, to entertain himself when he wasn’t studying for college, working with his Opa, emailing Myles, hanging out with current boyfriends (one which lasted two months before Tobias caught this boyfriend cheating on him, and the other lasted three months before breaking up) he eventually took up Parkour. After his one year of college Tobias’s account was drained of money for furthering his education and the young man was about to move out of his Opa’s basement when he had an incident from Parkour in which he incompletely fractured his leg near his hip and ripped out a barbell piercing in his ear, and spent a handful of months remaining in his Opa’s living room in a wheelchair and eventually crutches while he healed, selling a good amount of his stuff to prepare for the move he planned. He practiced with knives in his boredom, idly twirling them and learning a few different kinds, namely a hunting knife and a couple throwing knives on top of his common kitchen knives. Once Tobias was healed, he had a pot, a tin cup, a small collection of knives, wire for trapping and making snares, a Swiss army knife that included a fork, spoon, and a few others, a survival handbook, his laminated hunting license, a cell phone with text, email, and a good signal capability, hiking boots, and a few spare sets of clothes all in one big backpack that weighed close to 65 pounds.

Tobias was ready to start a new adventure, telling his Opa he’d call him every Saturday at 2 pm, telling his parents that he’d call them every Sunday at 2pm even though over his one year living outside their house they seemed even more disgruntle. He didn’t understand their behavior, didn’t pick up their body language that they weren’t happy that he was leaving on an ‘adventure’, that he wasn’t going to further his education with college once he saved up money for it, that he wasn’t going to be a successful business man like his older brother or marry into some wealthy knowledgeable family like one older sister or become a stay at home like his other sister. He loved his elder siblings and all his seven nieces and nephews, but he didn’t know what he wanted. He needed a change of scenery.

That change of scenery was about 1482 miles (2386 kilometers) away near Bellingham, Washington at hiking seven hours a day at an average of 3 miles an hour for give or take 70 days with the exception of taking a bus through the mountainous and dry areas because he didn’t have the resources nor the energy to do all of that on foot. When he got there, he was glad to smell the coast and the waters for the first time.

Keeping to the most rural of areas, Tobias eventually rented out a cabin in a wooded area from an elderly couple that owned the land and liked to hunt. He stayed there for a good price and for the running water, reliable plumbing, and electricity that only kept the lights on and his phone powered, Tobias had a fireplace where he cooked on relatively smokeless wood, the sea where he could fish from, and a wide variety of animals he could hunt and snare. He called his Opa every Saturday, and although he did call his parents every Sunday, they rarely picked up the phone and all Tobias got to hear of his parents’ voices was from the recording of their answering machine. He always called and sent letters to his family on birthdays and holidays like Christmas, Easter, fathers day and mothers day, letting them know he loved them and was thinking about them, even if he only got his parents’ answering machine.

During his time living in the cabin, he trapped a lot of animals, sometimes selling the meat and fur for money to stay living in the cabin, and stayed out of trouble with the law on hunting by keeping his hunting license up to date. He kept his appearance neat and clean although rural. He kept his half-Mohawk neat, his clothes washed, and with the exception of a horde of ants and bugs that liked to make the cabin their home during the summer, life was good. He only killed what he could eat and sell, respected nature as it was, and was happy with his quiet life away from the community and busy city.

That life took a change when he came back from a sunrise-watch one day to discover someone politely waiting for him in the cabin. Introducing herself as the leader of a particularly secret group, she explained to him the basic details of why she was there. She was asking him if he would like to join, with his ability called and categorized as Bloodhound. After thinking over her request, he agreed, although he wasn’t certain as to what he was setting himself into.

At the age of 27, Tobias Jai Mao began his life within the A-Gents as Trainee27.

After the plane ride to the strange island that acted as A-Gents HeadQuarters01, T27 began training for the Assassin’s class, making several friends during his time there, although after roughly a month he paid his family a visit only to be told to never come back to that house until he was cured of this disease called homosexuality. In Tobias’ mind, it meant he was disowned. He returned to the HQ01 and with a heavy heart continued his training, although he eventually discovered, through the help of the ranked agents and his own shortcomings, that perhaps the class he was training for was not the right fit for him and he began to train in other classes to find his perfect fit.

Or whichever class he would screw up the very least in.
